Edinburgh Castle Band ??
Hi
These badges turned up yesterday with no provenence other that a vague thought that they had something to do with an Edinburgh Castle band. A quick consult with Mr Google showed that the motto was indeed linked to Edinburgh Castle, but there it stopped. Can anyone help with identification. Many thanks Mike |

The badge is the crest of arms for Edinburgh Council rather than castle.
The symbology incorporates the castle but also includes the anchor for the river forth, the dome of the city's patron saint etc. |

The same design was also used by the Police:

The small badge was worn on the working helmet 1880-1932. The large badge was worn on the ceremonial dress helmet around the same time.
