Default MEB Cloth Title

Hello All

Can anyone suggest who would have worn a red cloth shoulder title with the letters "M E B" embroidered in light blue and over what period? The title was found in South Africa but is of a style that I suspect was quite common across the former British colonies.

I don't have a picture to post at the moment but the following are the same style (http://a5.img.bidorbuy.co.za/image/u...8_DSC_0267.jpg).

Regards
Craig

The Mines Engineering Brigade, perhaps? It was a South African WWII unit.

Arthur, the mines Engineers were my thought too but I have no supporting evidence and am hoping somebody might be able to confirm that for us.

Staffsyeoman, the title in this case is the right style and colour scheme for an Army Engineer unit but would the the Midlands Electricity Board have ever worn cloth titles such as these on their uniforms?

If certain Midlands E.B. staff had worn a formal uniform the '40s, '50s or '60s, would they not have worn metal devices?

Thanks for the comments
Craig

Hi Craig,
I think I may have found the confirmation you were looking for. Page 53 in Curson's 'Regimental devises in Southern Africa' he mentions that the Mines Engineering Brigade wore a title MEB in blue on red. Attached image of scan of page 53.
