Default 4th Indian Division Brass Sign

Clearly a brass version of the swooping eagle worn by 4th Indian Division, can anyone suggest why this version was made?

Hello Jon,

A nice item for sure.

My suggestion would be that it was perhaps meant to go on a cloth backing to create a composite 'metal/cloth' formation sign. We sometimes see such things, although I can only show one example I have (shown below).

Cheerio,

Roy
