I found that one too, which came up with a sort of error message before locating the other which can not be found
I guess we keep on searching ...
All the best

If I remember correctly a fellow forum member has been working on the definitive RAF badge book for a while now? Perhaps making this one superfluous?
I Guess we'll have to wait for that one.

Rgds, Thomas.

I wonder how much the sudden & unexpected synchronised "disappearance" of copies advertised for sale may be down to this thread?
Nah, couldn't be............its got to be pure unfortunate coincidence.

Default A question

If someone who has a copy of said document and was willing to produce a couple of copies for forum members (on a not for profit basis - merely to cover costs of paper, ink and postage) what is the issue of copyright?

The cover plate states that Copyright is/was held by Margaret Nobbs and Charles Thomas from 1969 onwards.

I have checked my copy and it's missing the same bits. Section E was supposed to cover RNAS and Fleet Air Arm. Section I is all there except for the ones noted above so it looks like they may not have been done. I suspect that the Notes were never fully completed.

Would be interested to know if there is an RAF badge book in the offing.

Now that would be a welcome publication!

Some great stuff on the web, but books have a particular magic to 'old fashioned' me

I could be mistaken but something sticks in my head that a certain person who is currently 'out of circulation' was planning something along these lines. The only other publication that comes to mid is/are the Malcolm Hobart books.

A person who is currently out of circulation, if it is who I think it is, then I certainly would not even consider buying a copy of anything even remotely connected to him.

Despite some poor reviews of it, I recently bought a copy of the Hobart book basically because there appeared to be nothing else available on RAF badges.

From the interest in this thread it seems there would be a market for a comprehensive new book on RAF badges.

Default Catalogue of Air Force Insignia

Came across this old post after re-discovering my copy of the Catalogue at the back of a filing cabinet drawer. Is there still interest in this publication from members of this forum? Does anyone know if it was ever published? The copy I have is missing Sections E and M, as well as U thru Z. I have no idea if these sections were ever produced. I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who has a copy of these missing sections. Cheers

I have a copy somewhere that certainly contains Ferry and Transport Command and some RNAS and Fleet Air Arm stuff. I know there were also 'updates', correcting some earlier entries.

Overall it's very good, but not perfect. But well worth getting.

Default Margaret's Catalogue

The following is copied directly from Margaret's Catalogue:

"The Guide to Subject Headings reads as follows:
T Canteen, Welfare, Aircraft Workers, RAFA etc,
U Allied (Non-Commonwealth) air forces with RAF 1939-46
V Canadian Air Force; Royal Canadian Air Force
W Australian Flying Corps; R Australian Air Force
X R New Zealand Air Force; Hong-Kong Aux Air Force
Y S African Air Force; Royal Rhodesian Air Force
Z Royal Ceylon, Indian, and Pakistan Air Forces

AA,BB,CC etc Minor Commonwealth Air Forces - Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Singapore, etc."

It would have been some book if she had been able to finish it!!

My copy ends with section 'T' but omits Sections 'E', and 'M'. There are also numerous hand written notes on the pages (although in my copy they are photocopies).

I hope this is of interest.
