WW1 Badges and Insignia
I have been tasked with the job of designing an information sign for the Fovant Badges Society to commemorate the the anniversary of the first Badges built in 1916.
I am now finding it a problem sourcing good images of these original badges. I was wondering whether anyone could point me to any sources as it is imperative I get the right designs. This is the list of badges from the wikipedia site [FOVANT BADGES] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fovant_Badges THEY ALL HAVE TO BE WW1 DESIGNS Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry 6th (City of London) Battalion, London Regiment (City of London Rifles) Australian Commonwealth Military Forces (the largest, 51m×32m)[6] Royal Corps of Signals Wiltshire Regiment (added in 1950) 5th (City of London Battalion, London Regiment (London Rifle Brigade) 8th (City of London) Battalion, London Regiment (Post Office Rifles) Devonshire Regiment YMCA Royal Army Service Corps Royal Army Medical Corps, possibly on the site of where Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry is now. Machine Gun Corps Queen Victoria Rifles 35th Training Battalion 'Dingo' Post Office Rifles 7th Battalion of the City of London Regiment 9th Royal Berkshire Regiment 37th Training Battalion Voluntary Aid Detachment |

I see form the Wkiipedia entry that the YMCA badge is no longer visible.
I attach two images of the badge from WWI that may be of help. as well as a cloth badge from WW2 that suggests the design has not changed much. Hope it helps with a worthwhile project. Jon |

Jon, re the image of the YMCA titles. I haven't seen an image of a Canadian YMCA member wearing any cloth sleeve insignia. Would you know if they wore the same as the imperial YMCA?

Welcome to the forum Rupert. There was no Royal Corps of Signals in 1916, they weren't formed until 1920. In 1916 signals were handled by the Royal Engineers.
The Army Service Corps didn't become Royal until 25 November 1918. Rgds, Thomas. Last edited by fougasse1940; 18-03-17 at 10:30 PM. Reason: typo |

Anyone know what happened to Mr. Williamson? Looks as though he submitted this thread, and has not returned since!
