Default Brass Bugle Cap Badge

Can anyone identify this badge please? Suggestions made so far include Rifle Volunteers and a possible Irish connection.

Jon,

As I said in a recent post even the late Hugh King had a number of badges, including bugle horns of various designs that he could not identify and had a couple of articles in Crown Imperial and the MHS Bulletin seeking identification.

Copy of his article in CI 96 of Autumn 1999 attached.

I think your badge is most likely to be a Rifle Volunteer badge but for which County ?

Peter

The rifle Volunteer movement never made it to Ireland, we stuck with the old militia system.

The numerals look colonial in style to me???

Regards,

Dave
