Default Royal Ulster Rifles Anodised Badge - What Is It?

As it says in the title, picked this up last week, a lugged Royal Ulster Rifles Queen's crown anodised badge, same size as a cap badge but what is it ? Is it a cap badge or is it a kilt badge/ornament worn by members of the Royal Irish Regiment ? Any information appreciated, it is looking for a new home so will be offered for sale once I know what it is ! Don't want to get it wrong.

Many thanks in advance

PL

Paul,
the last one I sold went for just over Alan's estimate at £18!

The last one I bought on ebay cost £4.99. The Skins & RIF seem to be dearer. They are all worn on the Kilt of pipers in the Royal Irish Regiment.
