Well it's about the 12th that have appeared over the last couple of years on eBay and regional auction houses. Have two if you want one for 450 it's all yours.
Until the 3rd one appeared I had been very happy with mine. Lugs look spot on.
Most look genuinely aged.
None of the eBay sellers would engage in conversation about where they had got them, I tried.
Ask Rod where his came from?
Rod is one of the good guys in the badge world so I don't think he is trying to purposely deceive anyone.
I think the truly genuine ones are a slightly different camel.
Kind regards
Dan

I won't make a comment as to if this badge is genuine or not. However I to have seen a few of these come onto the market recently, via Ebay.

The genuine New Zealand Imperial Camel Corp I own ,has a longer neck and legs I believe .

Thanks for sharing images of your original badge, very helpful and interesting. Looking carefully I can see a number of differences from the one under discussion.

Cheers,

Roy

Yes correct, genuine NZ ICC badges are sandcast.

Apart from the short neck and short legs ,the 'NZ' is of a slightly different design .The first real attempt to fake the reverse of the badge which sets it apart from other modern reproductions .

Cheers Iain.

I have heard anecdotes of WW2 Australian soldiers buying WW1 camel badges in Egypt as souvineers .Not saying this is the case, but is one possibility.

But the design of this badge is just different than what is known as a genuine NZICC badge in NZ. Most genuine badges come onto the market, or are in collections in New Zealand . The 'stumpy' camels are coming onto the market in the UK .

I would like to see dimensions ,such as height as well ,to compare to known genuine examples .Also the genuine ones are yellow brass in colour.

I have contacted the seller of this badge ,and he has now withdrawn the badge for sale .Obviously he made a mistake, and is a genuine guy .
