I do t know what process was originally used to gilt this particular star. As mentioned, at some point in time it's been attacked with some brasso - and has lost its gilding. It's still very nice though!

Yes - on the inner rim above the motto, it's clearly once been gilt.

Its a nice cap star, but i don't think its ever been gilded.

Yeah, just looking at iPhone photos are probably not the best way to make that call. IG RHQ have authenticated it - which works for me.
