Hello Button Experts,
Does anyone recognize this button? Thanks, Tinto |

According to this site http://www.aquilabooks.com/Catalogue...uetext106.html #074 it was used on Scott’s Discovery, although my understanding is that it was RRS Discovery (Royal Research Ship), rather than HMS.
Nice button regardless. Graham

A similar white metal one with NIMROD below the anchor, but without the wreath, exists for Ernest Shackleton's ship of the 1907-08 Antarctic Expedition.

These are from the Edwardian Gaunt catalogue on a page described as "Old and Curious Buttons".
I wonder if they were worn by serving RN sailors or if they were Victorian period fashion items? Sailor suits were quite common for children at times. Rob |
