Default 55th division patches thoughts?

Hey everyone,
I picked these up a while ago, can anyone tell me if they are WWII or post war? The coloring is a little weird, so I didn't know if maybe it was for the KD uniform?
thanks,
Chad

Chad,
If you look in "all albums" at my Kings Liverpool Regiment pictures you will see a picture of a number of 55th West Lancs Division patches.

I have never before seen any the colour of yours.I can only say I would not be happy having them in my collection.

Regards

P.B.

cheers Peter,
Thanks for that. I wasn't to sure about them either, but they weren't that much, so I dont feel like I am out much. Could they be repros from early on? They just feel old in the material and cheesecloth backing.
thanks,
Chad

Chad,
I think they might be of fairly recent manufacture

Peter

There are at least two dealers on ebay who specialise in fake WWI divisional badges.

Both the badges in the attached photo are duds but at least the manufacturer has used the correct colours.

I have seen recently a few dud 55th West Lancs div signs where no attempt has been made to copy the correct colours or indeed to copy the head of the rose correctly.

I suppose they are doing collectors a favour in some respects by making what are obvious fakes

Peter,
SO are you saying that the ones in your picture are totally incorrect in color? I too have examples of these, and was just curious. The pics of the original shoulder title in your album seems to be the same colors as the repro job, and As I have never seen an origianl 9not a photo) of the No. 4 independent company, I can't really compare to it except to say that the rose is different.
Cheers,
Chad

No Chad,
The ones in the last post are duds but in the correct colours, but others I have seen recently have been repro-ed in colours that were never used in the originals.

Peter
