Default British TRF

Re badge No2- red/yellow with black border. If it is 41x41mm I thought this was the brassard badge worn by he British Cavalry Regiment in Bosnia @1995. The red should be uppermost. The RRF badges were either without the black border, or larger with a border, 72x72mm. The RRF 'yellow' is more 'primrose' and the 'scarlet' a darker 'burgandy'.

If anyone can confirm either way I would like to know for sure.

Regards, Stephen.

Are there any good reference books or websites dealing with TRFs? So far I haven't found much. A couple of years ago at the Chatham show one of the dealers (Chris Toth?) had a booklet he had had privately printed (i.e. desktop) which he was selling for about twenty quid, I think, but I decided I'd rather buy another badge or two than get the book. Get in touch with 54Bty (Forum member) who published 2 good books with colour images and informative texts. I have both and use them frequently. However like all reference books, only current up to date of printing. There have been many additions to this field since then. Hoping that he will produce another but may have to wait until end of Afghanistan war for this!

Barrie Morris of Morris Militaria produced a good pamphlet with line drawings and texts of TRFs and he updates with additions from time to time.

ORISKANY.

Stephen,
My Album "British Army "Modern" Cloth Helmet Cover and Floppy Hat Badges"
http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...hp?albumid=512
has four examples of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers flash (50mmx50mm) worn on the helmet cover.
The larger version was worn as a DZ (Drop Zone) flash on the sleeve when an RRF Bn was part of 16 Air Assault Brigade.

You should get Marc J Sherriff's 2 volumes of British Army Unit Identification Badges of the 1990s, which despite the title actually deal a lot with the 2000s as well. They're available online from the publishers, MLRS Inc. (No, I have no vested interest, I just own copies and really like them -- colour pics and all.)

Default British TRF patches

GGA,

Attached is scan of a brassard, attributed to the Brit Cav Bat @1995, showing the TRF as worn by the British Cavalry Regiments whilst in Bosnia.

I know that a battalion of the RRF served in Bosnia at the same time as RAC units comprised Brit Cav Regt, but did RRF serve in 20 Armoured Bde whilst on UN duties? If they did then this might discredit this brassard as a RAC item.

I am still of the opinion that this TRF is RAC scarlet & yellow, not burgandy and primrose. The merrowed edge is black, not burgandy. This conforms to the entry in Marc's booklet size wise.

Stephen.
