Hello Eddie

It is not the button shown as being used by the OTC in the article written by Howard Ripley in the Military Historical Bulletin. That button is shown and described as having the crest of The Duke of Wellington.

It could be an earlier pre OTC college volunteers button although I suspect that it is college staff, as used on the livery type uniforms, rather than by the teaching staff.

That's rather what I suspect. In my day the only uniformed staff were the Hall Porters, but I've no idea what buttons they had.
