Default Bad Fake?

This arrived today. Even to my untrained eyes this looks like a bad fake. Or am I missing something. Could some one confirm this for me please.

Hi Tinca,

It doesn't look too good to me. The scroll behind the star is crude. The marks on the slider look like burns. I am on a small screen though.

Others may disagree.

Cheers

Phil

I cannot blow the image up on works PC to take a better look, however the construction looks OK!

Looks like a rough original! Most of the coipes have overlaid base scrolls and not tabbed as in this example!

Thanks, Andy and Phil.

I bought it off someone on the forum, he didn't know either so I thought I would take a punt. Unless anyone else has an opinion I will treat it has real, just poorly made.

Hi Tinca
My God-Father was issued 2 R. Sussex badges during WWII and both look below standard, so yours may well be a late WWII badge.
Cheers,
Alex

Thanks Alex, it would be nice if it was. I would prefer my badges to be either current for WW1 or WW2.

Hi Tinca
Here's a link to my earlier post about R. Sussex badges, not the same as yours, but also not the best quality, but both from an impeccable source.
http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ghlight=sussex
(no tsure if I've done the link right)
If not it was posted in the Infantry and Guards section on09-07-10.
Cheers,
Alex

It seems like the right end of the scroll is behind the badge?
