The HQ of the Queen Victoria's Rifles was in Davis Street.

Is the plaque on their old drill hall?

Yes, there's one either side of the doorway. I wonder how many similar items there are on London's streets to the other regiments?

The premises are still in use by the descendants of the QVR:

Mayfair TA Centre, 52-56 Davies Street, Mayfair, London, W1K 5HR

The following units are stationed at Mayfair TA Centre:

F Company, 7th Battalion, The Rifles

This is the sort of thing I think is well worth recording. In the 1970`s I photographed the old drill halls I came across.

Attached are photos of the Liverpol Rifles badge on the front of their old drill hall in Upper Warwick Street Liverpool, now sadly demolished and a couple of pictures of the old Drill Hall in Widnes.

At the time I took the Widnes photos the old drill hall was owned by a client of the firm I was working for .He had the intention of re developing the site and promised me the stone with the inscription on it. I dont know what I would have done with the stone and as far as I am aware the building is still standing.

P.B.
