South African Arm of Service paghree flashes
Three different South African paghree (pughree?) flashes, displaying arm of service colours I have not been able to identify. I guess the first couple is Artillery and something like RAOC...

Polo helmet flash
the flash on the pith helmet is absolutely unknown to me, but I'm sure is South African, because of origin of the Polo helmet! Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi Loupie,
The 2nd flash in the 1st post looks to be the regimental flash for Prince Alfred's Guard (worn with the red to the top). Also used as a badge backing. The first flash in the 1st post may be Engineers?? Dean |

Hello Dean, thank you for your reply. As for info provided to me by a knowledgeable SA collector, I can confirm your theories: Engineers, Prince Alfred Guards and Field Artillery (the flash on the helmet).

Loupie
Artillery flash on helmet was normally attached with the "red zig zag" vertical and not horizontal as shown in the above picture! Hope this helps, by the way there were many different artillery flashe variations (different units) but this one is the most common for WW2. Brian |
