Army Pay Corps with Lambourne Mark
Going to stick this on ebay soon but thought I would add the pictures here as its maker mark, combined with its period of use, may have some significance for someone regarding similar marks on other badges.
Anyway, its a first type Army Pay Corps, large intertwined letters. Maker mark is LAMBOURNE & Co BIRMINGHAM. worn as a cap badge 1898 to 1900 Westlake states worn as a shoulder title as well, I assume during the whole period 1893-1920? as no other types are mentioned. Army Pay Corps formed 1893 and amalgamated in 1920 with the Army Pay Department to form the Royal Army Pay Corps. During its existence the APC was an 'other ranks' unit only. The Army Pay Department (Officers only) initially came into existence in 1870 as the 'Pay Sub-Department of the Control Department'. Designated 'Army Pay Department' in 1878, it was redesignated the 'Army Accounts Department' in 1905, but reverted to the previous title in 1909.

Apc
A very nice example of which I think is a shoulder title, Lambourne only made badges I believe during WWI, by this time the APC were wearing the letters in script surmounted by a King's crown as a cap badge.
