Well, my source for the position of the lanyard is a former Sharpshooters officer...

The lanyard on the right arm may be down to a personal affection rather than anyhting else and I don't think you should make too much of it.
He is clearly CLY as the shoulder title shows and is wearing the regtl beret with its backing and band - I wonder if this was inpsired by the regular 11th Hussars as it was not unusual for yeomanry to ape the regular regts who they had an affinity to and often PSIs and officers drawn from. As for the missing badge again I don't hink you can be too defintive on it - hardly worth the effort of removing it as as operational security measure to hide you regt's identity if you leave the CLY s/t on! Either the lost it or it was taken as a souvenir. What is interesting for me is the fact that it was lugged as shown by the holes in the beret. |

The KSY Museum's website is a great source of information:
"Officer's beret worn by Capt Patrick Dyas, 4th CLY, c1943 note the broad green band,a wartime regimental distinction 4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) 1943 location: Sharpshooter House Croydon" "Other ranks' battledress blouse worn by Cfn P.E.Johnson, LAD, 4th CLY, 1939-44 4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) 1939-1944 location: Hever Castle (Store)" |
