Great War RAMC with Divisional patches
65582 Pte Walter Cooper who, despite posing like a carpet salesman who has just sold a rug, was in fact attached to the 103rd Field Ambulance, 34th Division.

57803 Pte Alexander William Thomson. 9th Field Ambulance RAMC. His service papers show that he was attached to the 4th Battalion Coldstream Guards and why not?; they were a great bunch of lads.

Every soldiers nightmare, regular or territorial, being attached to the Guards... Now ducking, helmet firmly in place awaiting severe flak..

Although I know that you said it tongue in cheek matti, I have to say that I disagree. I had two experiences of being attached to the Guards, one for 5 months with 2nd SG in Belfast in the 1970s and once with 2nd CG for a 2-day exercise in the 1980s. On both occasions I was made to feel a part of the family and I was also never abused (even in jest) as a 'fish and chip mob', or treated in anyway other than with respect (as a JNCO at the time). That experience had a profound and lasting effect on me and it is perhaps for that reason that I now come to their defence (not that they need it).
