Hi All
For me, one I had basically given up on ever finding, an RDF officer's silver/gilt cap badge. Cheers, Alex |

Very nice that, not likely to find another so will simply copy your picture and immerse myself in it every so often, I do have a lovely Leinster and really made well!
Merry Christmas everyone, best Wishes Billy |

Probably this one. A 2 part gilt Royal Marine Artillery QMSI cap badge, most likely only worn 1922/23.

Not exactly a bumper year as I was outbid on a couple of lots in Bosleys auctions, but I added a couple of new Somalia Gendarmerie cap badges (circled) so can’t complain.

The badges with real horns in the image - are they did dik horns? I had a couple of pairs of dik dik horns capped and tipped in gold, as neck chain pendants, and about 1/2 dozen pairs of them unmounted, picked up in Africa during the 70's.

Yes, they are real dik dik horns - I recently bought the autobiography of Neville Goldrein who served in the Somalia Gendarmerie and recounts how he went out to shoot one for his badge. Graham

Interesting, pity mine are long gone, gold mounted ones given to the ex-missus etc, the others nicked....... anyway well done with the badges you got, niche and look good.

MkII goggles
I have been after a pair of these pre-WW2 MkII goggles for years & finally secured a pair for the collection. These would have to be my favourite goggle type.

FL LT Colin Baxter RAAF
From one blurry photo on eBay I was lucky enough this year to purchase a nice grouping from the son of 40071 FL LT Colin James Baxter RAAF.
Colin flew Spitfires in Malta with 249 Sqn & 1435 Sqn. He is credited with one probable against the Germans & one probable against the Italians. A lovely piece of history! His fairly early made Irvin jacket is named, complete & in near perfect condition with a two piece back. |
