2 RA badges opinions please
I have these 2 RA badges ,i would like your opinions on please the main one i am now concerned with is the Cap badge sized one with 3 screw fixings,i have put this on an a auction site with buy it now to be sold as repro as i didnt know what it was,im now wondering have i made a mistake and should i withdraw it from sale and keep it in the collection .
The second Cap Badge i have is marked with a white metal M (militia ?) this is already in my collection and staying there, question on this is it just another of the commonly found restrikes/fakes Both badges have no makers marks...thanks for looking and putting up with my quetioning......spotter

The militia badge has been faked by adding fake M's onto genuine badges. You also get a fantasy(?) Home Guard Warwickshire badge with 2 M's added on the scroll allegedly for Morris Motors.
The screw badge does not have any of the usual tell tale fake flaws. Alan |

Spotter,
the first badge looks to be the post 1902 pouch badge. Quite hard to find, usually Gilt finished & may need a warm water & soft old toothbrush clean here ,to restore it a bit. The second is definitely a dud. Sorry, but as Alan said, it has most of the usual flaws assocciated with these. The 'Artillery..gun badge' thread shows other examples of this type ......somewhere,fairly early on! Personally ,I would definitely keep #1 & ditch #2 !! If you still want to quit #1......PM me with the auction site details! Cheers ! Steve Last edited by dragonz18; 01-07-08 at 08:45 AM. |

Again thanks for your replys ,Ive got to be honest i think im still going to let the pouch badge go as it will just look like any old cap badge once framed up,but its still interesting to know what it is from
Ref the militia one i cant believe the trouble that someone is going to to make fake cap badges, but i suppose it keeps low budget collectors like me happy again thanks for the info/advice .....allan(spotter) would like to add the pouch badge has just sold on ebay to another forum member
