Royal Marines Platoon Weapons Instructor 2nd Class badge
Good evening gentlemen
I have posted this request on the general forum but would like to give it maximum coverage. I am a former Royal Marine and so I suppose that it fairly natural that I should have a particular interest in the badges that were and are worn by the Corps, both in the past and presently. I joined in 1959 and for the first five years or thereabouts, until the Lovat Green uniform was introduced, khaki battledress was part of our kit. During my service I qualified as a Platoon Weapons Instructor (not being part of the army, the Royal Marines had their own badges as well as sharing some with the Royal Navy). For the past few years I have been trying to complete the collection of badges (patches) and rank insignia that I was entitled to wear and I have managed to obtain all but one - the Platoon Weapons Instructor 2nd Class badge on khaki. This badge, incidentally, is the same badge that is worn by Drill Instructors (or Drill Leaders -DLs). If anyone knows of one that is for sale, or is held by someone that is prepared to exchange it for another item, I'd be grateful. There was one on eBay recently and I bid for it but was outbid in the closing stages of the auction. http://www.rm-badges.com/ I'm hoping that the above link will take you to the Royal Marines Badges website. If it's successful, you will find a green drop down on the left. Select "Badges", then "Specialist Qualification" and scroll down to "Drill and Platoon Weapons Specialist Qualification Badges". This has all been a bit long winded, I'm afraid, but I hope there is someone on the site that can help. Thanks Vic |
