Fancy Belt Buckle for ID
This is not a badge per se, but a belt buckle with a central cipher which I am trying to identify.
1) the initials look to me like a central 'S' with a reversed 'B' on one side and perhaps 'D' on the other. 2) the belt is a leather belt of the type worn in dress uniforms of the Great War period and came with a Nursing Sister's uniform, though it is not the RAMC badge I recognize. For context, I include a B&W shot of the presumed owner of the uniform with which the belt is associated. Her collar insignia and hat badge - not shown - are standard RAMC issue. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Peter |

I think the image is upside down; the letters are C.S.R.

Can't identify the cypher but the photo appears upside down to me (see enlarged/rotated version).
I would guess it is a nursing school/hospital belt .

The picture you show of the uniform is that of a Canadian Nurse. Canadian nurses in WWI and WWII wore RCAMC badges.
The belt buckle centre is CSR but not the normal buckle worn by Canadian Army nurses (Crowned Lion). This may be a Canadian Nursing training school buckle. |

Yes, perhaps I should have said that I belong to a group that re-enacts the CAMC. It wasn't the RCAMC until 1929. But I agree that nursing school is a good possibility.

From this website:
https://www.communitystories.ca/v2/w...ion-in-canada/ we get: by 1930 there were 218 nurse training schools operating out of Canada's 886 established hospitals Here is the list of Canadian Hospitals in 1939: https://publications.gc.ca/collectio...2-1939-eng.pdf I have not tried to find a match. |
