Default RA badge with lugs and slider.

Hi Guys,

this is a badge i have had for many years and unusual in the fact that it is the only badge i have in my collection that has both lugs and a slider on the reverse.
The badge has a red velvet backing and is small in size,so i presume it might be for a beret ?
The badge is 45 mm in width and 32 mm in height.

The Gaunt Maker mark on the slider is 11 mm.

Has anyone else have a similar badge in their collection with both lugs and a slider and was this a common practice by the manufacturers ?

Regards,Martin.

I used to have a few of these from my step-father - 32 years as a gunner - his explanation was that it kept the badge "neat and tidy" against the beret/cap due to the long scroll.

Hi Martin,

I picked today a similar badge with lugs & slider, in a bit battered condition and not maker marked and the reverse looks more like an OR's than the others shown.
