australian or english?
Good morning to all! I am french, I hope that you can understand my scholar english I have bought this helmet, sold as australian Raw edge: OK The edge has not the same width and BS 20 is engraved so it can be an english helmet of the first world war sold/given to the australian army and modified with a new liner? The flash is a problem: Royal Engeneer but the stripes must be horizontal? Royal Engeneer of australian army??? If it is an english helmet, has the english army used such an "old" helmet, during the second world war? Thank you for your help! |

Hi,
I am not very knowledgable on helmets, but can share what I see/interprit. 1. Helmet typical WWI manufacture 2. Liner typical WWII 3. Flash as used by South African Engineer Corps c.1940 - 1944 Hope this helps Steven |

Well that's odd, I did leave a reply yesterday but it seems to have disappeared?
Flash looks ok for Royal Engineers. Helmet is a Mk1*, a WW1 shell that has been refurbished in the late 1930s with new liner, paint and usually new chin strap attachment points Lee |
