Hi Tinto,
I have seen this badge before, but cannot remember where. The bird is a secretary bird that mainly preys on snakes. RMP stands for 'Royal Mint Pretoria' so I believe this is a South African badge. RMP stamped badges predate 1941 as after that the stamping changed to SAM (South African Mint). I suspect this may be a school badge from the 1930's. The closest I could find is the Roedean School, a private day and boarding school for girls located in Parktown, Johannesburg, South Africa. Well done, Steve! I'm a birder and I would not have guessed 'Secretary Bird' from that illustration. Makes sense though. And now we know what 'RMP' means too.
