Liverpool ???
I may be a little neurotic when it comes to this subject but I do wonder if some dealers and others think that if they can suggest a Liverpool connection to items they will sell for better prices than would otherwise be the case.
I cannot see anything that suggests a Liverpool connection this lot : http://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/au...b-a7b500ab991c As always happy to be proved wrong. P.B.

Surely not a misinterpretation of Royal Liver building?

Thanks Phil and Mike,
There are two Liver Birds on the Liver Building, one facing over the River and the other facing the opposite way over the town.According to popular legend, they are a male and female pair, the female looking out to sea, watching for the seamen to return safely home, while the male looks towards the city, making sure the pubs are open. An alternative version says that the male bird is looking in to watch over and protect the families of the seamen. Local legend also holds that the birds face away from each other as, if were they to mate and fly away, the city would cease to exist. I dont think this is a representation of the Liver Building as whatever the creatures are on top of the badge they face each other either side of the arch. Peter

To me they look like two heraldic Gryphon supporters either side a flaming cauldron that has the roman numeral "V" on it. So its more probably "Livery" and not Liverpool.
