Question 21st army?

Hi, I'm trying to identify this badge. It has the number 20 on the back and is made of silver I think. From what I can gather by having a look on google the badge is possibly 21st army? My Dad left a box full of medals and this was in there. I know my Grandfather served in ww2 and I'm not sure if this belonged to him as his medals were mixed in the box with others he was collecting.

Pete,

An interesting badge. The shield at the centre is that of the British/Canadian 21st Army Group which fought in Europe between 1944 and 1945. After the war the badge passed to the British Army of the Rhine or BAOR.

Its composition is interesting as the cross to which it is fixed looks decidedly Polish. After the end of the war a large number of Poles served in a variety of support roles for BAOR and I would suggest that the badge may have been worn by a Polish unit serving with BAOR.

But that is only a guess. Perhaps a Polish expert can help. I'd be interested to find out what it was too.

Jon
