Default 42nd Battalion (Capricornia Regiment) Band Member hat badge 1948-53

Here's a badge not often seen....

42nd Battalion (Capricornia Regiment) Band Member hat badge 1948-53.

It's more of a chrome colour rather than brass.

Mick,

I have one in a definite chrome finish. The chrome is very thick and quite age toned... suggesting that it is a period finish for the 42nd Band.

I'm working on the photo editing for Volume 2 today, but I'll snap a couple of pictures of it for the forum to review.

Happy New Year All!

Mark

interesting pic.
if this is chromed (hard to tell from the pic) its a superb strike.
normally with chromed badges from that period you lose some detail but this one looks crisp. lovely badge

OK... here's a couple of quick snaps of my KC Capricornia Band badge... it looks very much like Mick's. There can't be many of these around, so it's nice that a couple of them have survived.
The images are making the item look silver, however it is a heavy chrome finish with a fair bit of surface tarnish in the recessed areas (which look quite matt in the images).

Happy New Year again!

Mark
