The Navy have a finite budget and it's up to them whether they want more aircraft for their aircraft carriers or Royal Marines. A question of priorities for the Navy.

Something similar on the National tea time news. Not wishing to be full of doom and gloom, but rather, being realistic ,if this country was a company, bankruptcy would appear to be on the horizon.
Best perhaps not to talk about Brexit but again going by the National news it would appear that it might not be the simple negotiation that many thought. Back to badges. P.B.

Highly possible that 43 Cdo. Fleet Protection may well be cut in numbers and re-deployed 'elsewhere' along with personnel from 42 Cdo. which may be relegated to a 'training base' or something similar.
The Royal Marines 'raised and paid by the Admiralty', so far, it seems no senior shiny backsides from the Admiralty have committed themselves to anything like a decision, which is typical of course. Politicians ... don't you just love them! |

BWEF, I think you may be right. Followed by the Falklands. After all, who's going to defend them?

They should disband the Parachute Regiment first. They'll never jump into a war zone again. IMHO

We could get G4 to do all the public duties.

They could even stop doing Public Duties, Barrack Guards aren't done by the troops any more.

Gib is now a "bargaining chip" in the Brexit negotiations. " The EU has put the future of Gibraltar at stake in the coming Brexit negotiations, in effect backing Spain in its centuries-old dispute with the UK over the British overseas territory." https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...t-negotiations Be careful of what you wish for. For you might just get it, and then more besides.

Spain will have the veto because it has a land border with Gibraltar whose citizens had the right to vote on Brexit, Ireland could veto the same because it has a land border with N.Ireland, whereas it does not make economic/political or peaceful sense in erecting borders between them and N.Ireland.
Gibraltar who for years had a closed border with Spain which was only opened through EU pressure and negotiations,Brexit may now mean Spain will have the right to close the border again. There is certainly a lot of misreporting and scaremongering going on in the press. Paul Last edited by Paul Spellman; 31-03-17 at 11:23 PM. |
