I take it to be a bedplate, from the crown (which I think is Guelphic) possibly Victorian, post 1881 Cardwell Reforms and the formation of the regiment.

Yes it is , I can’t believe I missed that! It’s not easy to read but a short word ending in Y .must be but it’s not struck like the later ones are Kind regards Chay |
