Newoundland coin

It's always a wonder what the soil yields to a detector. A Newfoundland coin/medallion dated 1949 turning up in a Maltese field!
Googling supplied some background info to the item, which basically is a 'coin' issued to commemorate the joining of Newfoundland with Canada.
