I don't believe they are Canadian. There was a 7th Canadian Fusiliers and that badge may be for that regiment, but there was no 3rd Fusilier/Grenadier unit in the Canadian militia.

Hi

I think they are both British and both effectively the same regiment:

3rd London Rifles Volunteers (pre 1908) which in 1908 became 7th Battalion, London Regiment (1908 - 1922).

I think both have been widely copied so I'll leave the question of authenticity to the experts!

David

I am afraid that there is no record of that badge being used. The genuine pre 1908 3rd badges were a different design. There is one in the sales section. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ad.php?t=46379

The design shown is an old fake using the same die as used for the repro 7th Londons with a fake numeral. They were made by the same faker and use a die with minor die flaws to the flames that appear as 'bubbles'. They may be due to corrosion pitting on old dies being re-used. These are old fakes so have some genuine age to them.

Sorry.

I wondered, once I'd got it in hand, & then I compared to the one already posted on this threadf, hence the post.
It looked ok from the photos I'd seen, but it'll soon be on its way back to the dealer.
I have a "7" somewhere that I believe to be genuine, have to dig it out.

Many years ago I bought a lot of 3 badges. By mistake the dealer sent me 2 'sets' (so 6 badges in total) so I had 3 pairs of identical fakes. Included in this lot of repros was a pair of these badges.

Must've only taken a few minutes to apply a hammer to those windfalls?
