This professional photographer's site displays many excellent colour portrait photographs of the current British Army and other Service Personnel.

I was very lucky to get one of these from a friend and well established collector of Scottish militaria, regrettably no longer with us. The sign was issued (I think) only during the first Gulf War.

Very nice - will have to find one.

Is it an unofficial TRF?

Mick

I really can't say, Mick. I thought I had something about it in a magazine (Military Illustrated, perhaps?) but I can't seem to find anything.

Hello.
Tpr to Cpl wear the anodised collar badges on no 1 dress with black backing.
SNCO, WO and Officers wear the gold and silver wire collar badge on No1 dress
The wire collars are also worn on the L/Cpl to WO2 mess kit.
Tpr to WO2 wear the dark blue backed POW feathers badge on left sleeve of No1 dress.
WO1 and Officers wear the yellow backed one.
Officers and WO1 wear the dark blue backed PW Feathers on No2 dress Tpr to WO2 wear the white on Khaki one.
Anodised collars on No2 for Tpr to WO2 with black backing, WO2 and Officers Sil/Gilt with black domed backing.
And we never wore the bagpipe rat in the first Gulf War, just the standard 7th Armd Bde red jerboa.
I've a bagpipe rat that someone gave to me out there, no idea who wore it.
Hope this helps

I forget to say, the Sgt in the picture does appear to be wearing embroided collar badges, after my time.
Maybe cutting down on sil/gilt wire?

Cap badge wise, service dress cap Tpr to S/Sgt anodised cap badge, WO2 Bi metal, Officers and WO1 Sil/Gilt.
Beret, Tpr to WO2 bi metal badge, buffed down and highly polished! Officers And WO1 sil/gilt buffed down highly polished, most WO1's retained their big metal for beret, black backing on all badges, oblong for Tpr to WO2 Officers and WO1 cut to shape round badge.
