It is actually a royal Irish regiment kilt ornament ( despite the slider), still issued, not a bad buy at £3.50, probably worth about a tenner, regards Paul L

Paul,
sorry not this one, the kilt badges are lugged! This is an example of a genuine anodised cap badge and worth quite a bit more! Andy Last edited by 2747andy; 21-09-13 at 11:24 AM. |

This is a RUR cap badge possibly worn by TA or cadets. Definitely not a kilt badge of the Rangers or Royal Irish, as Andy said "no lugs". A nice badge and a very good price.

Tony,
A nice badge. I have recently acquired the 2 parts of "The Regiment" magazines that deal with The Royal Irish Regiment, in one part there is a great picture of a Pipers saffron kilt with 3 green shamrocks along the edge on which are mounted the badges of The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, The Royal Ulster Rifles and The Royal Irish Fusiliers ( as mentioned in the earlier posts ). What a great way to perpetuate the memory of those regiments. Peter

Hi Tony,
A very nice item exhibiting all the characteristics of an early Timing's piece. Unfortunately I never found out when the first badges were authorised but I would say at least very early 1960's or even before. A real steal at 3.50 GBP and suggest that if you are going to get into A/A pieces that you keep this one in the collection. Regards Chris |

One of these was sold on Ebay in January 2006, for £34.
Best regards to all. |

You could probably ask for twice that for one in good condition and be inundated with offers!

William/Andy
value wise this has to be my best ever buy, it was on a card of aa badges, the others I already had. The RUR was the cheapest!!! Happy days Tony.
