Default dates and originality

Hi Guys as i know very little about NZ badges i thought i would ask the experts about two badges i picked up in South Africa the first is i believe a cast badge Expeditionary force ww1 ? with a very strange slider, size 44mm in height x 36mm in width, the second badge is Onward i think ww1 44mm in height x 30 mm in width with very thick lugs, please chaps any info you can give me would be much appreciated. Dave, both look original to me, the onward badge is pretty common and dates 1940 to 1947.
The sand cast Expeditionary force badge unfortunately is also common as far as NZ sand cast badges go, and IMO is more likely to be WW2 period than WW1.

I could well be wrong here? But I thought the First World War pattern badges had the Crown set between the wreath tips (sunken) with the WW2 variations having the Crown set above (atop) the wreath tips? Which would make those shown earlier patterns?

That is true of some NZ WW1 Expeditionary force 'reinforcement' badges, but Daves badges are not reinforcement badges.
