Default Do lugs with feet = fake?

Do lugs with feet on a WW1 badge = fake?
Thoughts please on this NZ Cyclist Cap badge I have.

Cheers
Corey

looks like the real deal to me, sometimes the feet on lugs are visible and most have this feature as it supports the lug and makes it solid and firm when soldered on to badge. without it they break off easy.

Hello Corey, also IMO The badge is good the feet on the lugs you need to worry about are what are often called on here "dustbin lid" shape I will try to post a picture later but someone may be able to show before me,thanks Gerard

WW1 NZ badges were indeed supplied with lugs with feet, but it seems to me this was a practice that was more common with British manufactured badges.

However, with the rising increase of reproduction NZ badges, the understanding of original lug fittings has become a handy tool in helping determine good from bad.

Your cap badge looks good to me and I am positive the lugs are correct for this badge, hopefully Tinto will post pics of his NZ Cyclist Cap badge for a comparison.

Cheers Tinto, nice to see an early Gaunt made badge.
Gaunt also used small footings on their lugs, but they are much harder to see as usually covered by the welds.

Thumbs up Awesome Guys

Awesome Guys
A BIG thank you for all the replies, the knowledge you share is priceless.
Of course I'm very happy the badge gets the thumbs up.

atillathenunns, thank you again, and I'm sure it wont be the last time.

Tinto, those closeups are great showing the lugs, and also the variation in the wheel center with the Gaunt badge. very clear with the two side by side.

Cheers
Corey
