Default 81st West African Div.

Am quite pleased with these recent addition's to my collection. Had been looking for just one decent example but with some persistence was able to locate a pair. The previous owner needed a bit of persuasion to part with them but in the end it did happen.

As can be seen in the photo the body of the spider "Ananse" is nicely padded. Needless to say I am chuffed, believe I have used that word in the proper context.

thanks
Jack

Default 81 (WA) Div

An image of the sign being worn. 81 Bde of the Ghanaian Army still wears the spider. Mike

Hi Jack,

Very well done indeed and excellent pair and lovely quality too.

Here is a photograph of my single examples.

Thanks Mike and Roy.

One might assume that there is a good variety in manufacturing differences in these badges. Being most if not all I have seen are hand made.

Hi Jack,

I'm sure you are correct, just look at yours compared to me, some slight differences there. All the more excuse (if one were needed) to have more than one example..

Cheerio,

Roy

A nice couple of hand embroidered printed versions of the formation badge.

Thanks for all the positive comments. In looking a bit closer it appears the design was sketched or printed first and the embroidery follows that pattern. It is most visible under the arms of the spider.

Or this was originally a printed variety of the sign.

Black dots around the edge are usually a sign of a printed sign although the cloth use is not the usual thin material found.
