151st CEF Alberta
Here is a nice copper 151st CEF Alberta cap badge, maker marked Jackson Bros. The unit was based out of Calgary at Camp Sarcee and recruited from central Alberta including Red Deer.
Note the flat stamped lugs, and nice makers mark. Mike |

Flat stamped lugs are typical of Ellis badges. I wonder if Jackson Bros purchased the lugs from Ellis or if there was another maker of the lugs?

So I will start the list off. Of the Canadian manufactures of CEF badges who used flat or stamped lugs on at least some of their badges here are the ones that I can verify.....
Ellis - by far the most prolific user of the flat "Ellis Style" lugs OB Allan Jackson Bros Bailey Birks Roden Also got a McGill College cap badge with flat lugs but not maker marked. Most of these were made by Lees, but not sure on this one. Don |

Birks - Ellis - Ryrie
If you go to this link and you scroll down to about the second last page of the article you see the grand Birks - Elis - Ryrie store in Toronto at the turn of the century. Makes you wonder if there might be some Ryrie badges out there somewhere with some flat lugs on them as well.... Don http://www.silversocietyofcanada.ca/...iles/Ryrie.pdf |

Hi Don, Thanks for the list. I will cross reference it with the maker marks table.
Re the McGill badge. I think some may have been made by Hemsley.

Kinnear & Desterre, 109th Bn. (I am not sure if K & D contracted the badges with Ellis or made them.)

151st Batt
Here is another from my collection, a lot cleaner version with nice sharp stamping and no polishing wear.
