Default RAOC sun helmet flash

Had this one a good few years but never had it confirmed what the flash is for, though RAOC seemed most likely as the sun helmet came with a slouch hat which had been signed by the owners (of the slouch hat) mates and the only one I could track was a member of the RAOC though another was from members of the WRVS. The sun hat and the slouch hat are both WWII.

I only ask as I cannot seem to find any more examples of this helmet flash. It is in the formation flash group on the forum but remains unconfirmed.

Jerry,

The attached information published in The Formation Sign Journal of the Military Heraldry Society in July 1986 seems to confirm that your badge is indeed the RAOC pagri/pugaree flash.

Brilliant Jon, hard to beat the actual order for it with a description.

Jon beat me to it with the self same instruction! Prior to 1942 the RAOC main colour was Dark Blue as was its Arms of Service Strip, changing to Red/Blue/Red and officers rank backing to red. I believe some far east units continued to wear this for longer.

I have a slouch hat in the later colours dated 1943
