Default 1950's formation sign?

Not sure what this formation sign is for, if anyone can help that would be appreciated. It is on a 1951 dated Jackets Bush Khaki 1950 pattern which I picked up last week in Fishguard.

Not that it makes much difference, but the official name for the formation was Headquarters British Troops in Egypt and Mediterranean Command.

Thanks Mike.

Do you know what the time frame of use was for this flash? WW2 examples had the camel I think or am I thinking of the wrong flash?

Was this then replaced by the flash shown in the link?

Hi Michael,

amazing what a difference those 6 years make to desirability. I thought it was a worthy addition to my collection and nice to see it had not been stripped of its insignia, as so often is the case.

I would say late 1940s through to mid-1950s. As far as I know the World War 2 sign of the camel (gold or yellow on black square) of GHQ Middle East (GHQ Middle East Land Forces wef 1946) was only used on signboards and vehicles. I think you are correct about the sign in the link. Mike
