Hello I’m Kevin and I thought it was time to introduce myself.
Having collected general cap badges for a number of years to gain experience, I decided a few years ago to concentrate on an area. Some people might say I’m mad but I chose glengarry and shako badges of the volunteer movement. Having read about them I just became fascinated by their history and I find the badges pleasing to look at. I know I’m going to have problems with them and I think I’ve found the right people to help me when needed. I think the biggest problem I’m having lately is finding quality and reliable badge dealers. I have 2 I can rely on but I’m always looking for more who can supply me with the genuine badges I’m looking for.

Kevin,

Welcome.

I collect to the same era as you but just the Manchester area of Lancashire, even more difficult to find.

As for dealers there are only a few left that have any knowledge of the period we collect to. Many will purport to, but are not knowledgable enough to recommend.

Who are the two on your list? I can add who I rocommend to them.

I have also sent you a PM.

best wishes

I’m soon to be offloading a lot of RVC & VB items such as Glengarries, HP’s, Shakos from the likes of Essex, Sussex, Hampshire, Wilts, etc, generally from the southern counties. I’d prefer to sell privately rather than go through the hassle of ebay so if anyone has a wants list feel free to contact me.
