It might be a MOD BD but the Rhino aint 44.

Mm interesting. I have a picture of a XRH wearing it and on the XRH forum it was verified by an old Trooper who wore the same. I'll do some more digging.

1st Armoured Division 2 Armoured Brigade

Thanks

Second World War British Army formation badge for 1st Armoured Division (and 2nd Armoured Brigade), later ('second') pattern, embroidered on cloth, H 1.5in x W 2.2in. The 'rhino', the most heavily 'armoured' of wild animals, was perhaps an obvious symbol for an armoured formation and there were at least three versions of this badge. The earliest seems to be a simple standing rhino. A later version has a more aggressive appearance with the rhino charging, often with the addition of a curly tail. Tradition has it that this second version was adopted at Khataba in 1942 when the Division was refitting prior to Alamein. It is said a Sapper of 3 Troop Cheshire Field Squadron RE painted a charging rhino for the signboard outside Divisional HQ. The staff preferred this version and it was universally adopted. There is third version where the charging rhino has a segmented hide. Formation notes (1st Armoured Division and 2nd Armoured Brigade): see INS 5319.

Borg, sorry did not read your post correctly, my mistake the white outlined is NOT WW2, I originally thought it was, WW2 had no border, bordered one is mid 50's.
