Question XRH Cap Badges

OK, bought number 1 as a maybe. Its not as black/burnt on the inside as it looks and is nice and thick and no sharp edges

Number 2 was 'advertised ' as real WW2 issue, Both are totally different though. Which I know does happen but are they different ages or is one a total wrong style/shape.

Looking on the net there seems to be quite a few different styles

Would add the K&K Book of Cap Badges* Show the shape as #1

* What a rubbish book, you'd think they would have colour pictures not bad photocopies of old photocopies. Not worth the money.

No 01 is just a common modern fake sorry. Usual dumpy pattern of poorly defined feathers as seen on lots of copies.
You'll need a cavalry collector to advise on No 02 as it's not my field.

No 2 is good and no 1 is as Kevin describes.

There are a few maker variations for the 10th Hussars.

Hi BorgCymru

Now that you know badge No. 1 was a fake would you consider refunding the £8 to the purchaser?

Gordon

Default XRH Cap badges

I cannot say I'm totally happy with either badge, having doubts on No2 due to the maker's stamp on the slider and the reverse construction.

I would also take issue with BorgCymru's comments on K&K. Taking into account when it was published, and the cost of including colour photos in books, I think K&K did exceptionally well. I conceed that the later reprinted edition was not as good, but it did include the Options For Change badges.
If anyone can show me a better reference source...

Stephen.

He bought it knowing it was iffy to cut up for another use. There was no skulduggery.

We are going to use the 'fake' to make an junior ranks arm badge as its very similar in shape and they are very rare.
