Been on a bit of tear regarding yeomanry badges in the last couple of weeks.. here is the second batch I've received... the Surrey looks a little suspect but am thinking the others are O.K..... as always any comments welcomed.. Jim

The knot badge looks like the top half of a S.Staffs? Is that braze residue to the rear lower loops?

Andy.... I wouldn't say it's braize residue... looking at it through a magnifying glass there is an area (more pronounced on one side) that might be a bite mark from a snap off ?... but there are also indications of the same kind of wear further on up the knot on either side... I tried to focus in for a picture but not having much luck doing that...Jim

The Kent Yeo is not a known genuine pattern but is made by fakers.

Well...
Rampant horse isn't West Kent Yeomanry. Head is wrong shape. That is not a badge to Edvii Norfolk that I'm familiar with. There should be beading on the monogram. If the Stafford knot is 37mm width, it is South Staffords minus the scroll as Andy has suggested. The Surrey Yeomanry is a post 1922 and later badge and looks OK. My collecting finishes at WW1 so I cannot comment on the 23rd London Armoured Car badge. Garry |

It looks to be 37mm end of the rope to end of the rope...education continues..
The loops on the Ed VII look more like electrical connectors than common loop types but they seem to be original and not a fix job.... Nice to see the Surrey get an O.K. as I was more worried about it than the others... Am hoping the 23rd is good as it was the main badge I was after.. |

I believe it is RCR and not Norfolk.... Google search of Royal Canadian Regiment badges lead me to a plate from the book "The Royal Canadian Regiment 1883-1933" by R.C. Fetherstonaugh.... badge is illustrated as a Rank and File Shoulder Badge.. 1902-1908...

Thanks to all that replied to this post.... looks like I batted 3/5 which is not great...
Learned a nice lesson with the S/Staff Knot and what to look for there... Have one more batch of yeomanry coming in the mail so will post them all at once as per this post ... I think it's good entertainment value for the Forum but if there is a big objection to doing this then I won't.... thanks again Jim |
