Default 2nd Canadian Corps 1914 - 1919 ?

Below attached is an enamelled pin-back (marked sterling silver) badge that so far I have been able to identify.

The dates 1914-1919 narrow the era to the Great War, and I suspect but do not know that the letter C and numerals II within the blue triangle might suggest this as being a badge commemorating service with the 2nd Canadian Corps?

The badge retains a hinged silver pin and clasp on reverse presumably for lapel wear by a veteran?

Any information that can be shared on below would be appreciated.

Yours aye,
Mark

Hello Mark, The C II device represents the 2 Division Canadian Corps. There was only one Canadian Corps in the First World War. I would suggest the badge is a vet's pin for service in the 2nd Division Canadian Corps.

Hi Mark, the CII in the centre of the maple leaf refer to the Canadian 2nd Infantry Division of the 1st WW period and not, to a 2nd Canadian corps as no such unit existed during the 1st WW.
During the 1st WW there was only a Canadian Corps of four divisions plus, a fifth training division in the UK.

Default Merci

Thanks chaps for your quick identification of the badge being of 2nd Canadian Division and not the non-existant II Corps!

Yours aye,
Mark

Possibly even to the 2nd Motor Transport Company, which unit wore a blue triangle as their formation patch. An officer would be entitled to have the C/II device embroidered on his patch.

Servicepub,

Thanks for the additional suggestion of the badge possibly representing 2nd Motor Transport Company of 2nd Division.

Yours aye,
Mark
