Default Radio Operator Badge

Hello All,
Can anyone describe to me what an Australian Radio Operators Badge looks like? And any history, dates etc.

Thanks,
Phil.

Yes BC, I'm on the track of a pair, but they are only wings and a lightning bolt, no laurel wreath. They look bronze to me.

Hi Phil,

The wings and lightning bolt are for a Wireless Operator Class III of Australian Corps of Signals and they were introduced in 1925 in oxidised copper.

They were a proficiency badge and only one was worn, above the left cuff. They had to be qualified for each year to continue to be worn.

1st Class had a half-wreath and crown, 2nd Class had a half-wreath.

Qualified non- Aust Corps of Signals wireless operators wore the crossed flags with a five-pointed star above.
