Small Oval/Tria-rect Shape Brass Buckles ??
I acquired a box with buttons, collar badges to the India Medical Service.
In the box were these buckles. Does anyone know what they are. If they are military related. measure 44mm long x 20mm Thank you for any help you can offer. Fred |

They look like shoe buckles, possibly for court dress.

I'm not good with metric, despite 45 years of exposure, but the dimensions sound small for shoes. I would suggest, based on the shape that they are intended as 'sling buckles' - to attache the leather slings of a sword scabbard or pouch to the straps dependiong from the belt. Below is a set for an 1800s era sword belt and I think you can see th stylstic resemblance. No idea whether these are 'issue' for the IMS, though I suspect not.
