Default Could this be Colonial ?

I have had this badge for a while and have never been able to identify it. It is well made and seems to be cast in a chrome metal. It measures 48mm by 35mm. It has rather a busy coat of arms and I suspect that it might come from one of the colonies, but maybe not. Can anyone help ?
Regards
Mike

I saw one of these recently. I am thinking it was Metropolitan Tramways, possibly American. It may come back to me properly if I stop trying hard to remember.

I believe this to be and early version of the Mersey Tunnel Police, Liverpool.
Hope this is of help. Harry.

I thought it rang a bell.

Phil`s comment was most interesting, when I try hard to remember something it is often unsuccessful , but when I stop thinking too hard, the answer often just pops into my head.

( now who is the Prime Minister ? )

Dave,

I did. I think you identified it for me.
