Billy you're a star. I wanted to know how the crown and scroll are fixed and you've answered my question. Thanks again. PY.

General opinion is thay they were never officially worn!!

I also believe that this badge was not issued , I base this on the following book (which I have a copy)

THE DRESS DISTINCTIONS OF THE VIII KING'S ROYAL IRISH HUSSARS. As worn at the time of the amalgamation of the regiment in 1958. Langridge's military series. 1959.

the author visited the regiment prior to amalgamation and notes the badges and insignia won by all ranks. He specifically points out that although Officers did have QC badges O/Ranks were not issued with them before the regiment amalgamated.

Billy,
I think John has answered your question above, the pinned badge shown is deffo suspect! Only ever seen officers badges and copies constructed this way.

Best regards

Andy

Default 8th Hussars

Always difficult to prove a negative but this picture of a group of 8th Hussars badges was taken at the (then QRIH Regimental Musem) in the Combined Services Museum at the Eastborne Redoubt - there is no QC version!

PY,
see bottom Centre of post #11 above. It is a different pattern to the ORs badge.
